GEORGE TOWN, GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – No. 16 TCU led from almost the opening tip to the final buzzer on the way to a convincing 87-46 triumph Saturday night over South Florida to wrap up play in the 2024 Cayman Islands Classic women’s tournament.
TCU (8-0) combined a balanced scoring attack that featured four double-digit scorers with a stifling defense which limited USF (4-5) to a 33.9 percent shooting mark from the field.
Graduate point guard Hailey Van Lith led the attack for the Horned Frogs, posting 23 points, seven rebounds and a game-best eight assists. Graduate forward Sedona Prince, name the tournament MVP, added her second double-double of the tourney with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and also blocked three shots. Madison Conner poured in 14 points and Taylor Bigby added 10 points.
Sophomore Vittoria Blasigh topped USF with 14 points, the lone Bull in double figures. Carla Brito had a strong game with six points and eight rebounds.
TCU, which shot a solid 52 percent from the field (31-for-59), held a 42-25 advantage in rebounds. The Frogs shot 12-for-29 (41.4 percent) from long range and limited the Bulls to 14.3 percent (2-for-14) overall in the fourth quarter.
