Six Named To All-Tournament Team, Prince Tapped As MVP

GEORGE TOWN, GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – The all-tournament team for the 2024 Cayman Islands Classic women’s tournament features six players who had standout performances during their team’s appearances in the Caribbean. The squad is topped by Most Valuable Player Sedona Prince of TCU, who led her team to two victories. 
 
Prince, a 6-foot-7 graduate forward from Austin, Texas, recorded a pair of double-doubles as the Horned Frogs remained unbeaten at 8-0. She finished the tournament with 37 points, 33 rebounds and 11 blocked shots.
 
In the Friday night win over No. 3 Notre Dame, Prince posted 20 points and 20 rebounds, and narrowly missed a triple-double, adding eight blocked shots. She also chipped in four assists and three steals. On Saturday, Prince recorded another double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds and added two assists and three blocked shots.
 
Prince was joined on the all-tournament list by teammate Hailey Van Lith, a 5-9 graduate guard from Wenatchee, Wash., who had tourney numbers including 44 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists. 
 
On Friday, Van Lith scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half against the Fighting Irish, and also contributed seven assists. On Saturday, she provided 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.
 
Mississippi State is represented on the all-tournament team by Jerkaila Jordan, a 5-10 graduate guard from New Orleans, La. Jordan accounted for 29 total points, eight rebounds and five assists in her two contests. Her biggest contributions came against South Florida with 22 points and six rebounds.

Inês Vieira, a 5-foot-6 senior point guard from Madeira Island, Portugal, is the Utah player chosen for the team. She played a critical role in the Utes downing No. 3 Notre Dame Saturday night, with five points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal. Perhaps her greatest contribution was playing 37 minutes without a turnover despite intense defensive pressure from the Irish. Friday night she had six points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals against Mississippi State.
 
The all-tournament team includes Sonia Citron from Notre Dame, a 6-1 senior guard from Eastchester, N.Y.  Citron scored 22 points Saturday against Utah to pace the Irish. In her two tourney games, she scored 36 total points, averaging 18.0 points per game, while adding seven rebounds, four assists and six steals.
 
Sammie Puisis of South Florida is the sixth all-tournament selection. The 6-foot-1 graduate guard from Mason, Ohio, finished her journey to Cayman with 29 total points. She had a huge opening game against Mississippi State with 22 points, including four 3-point bombs that helped the Bulls as they battled the Bulldogs. She added seven points and a blocked shot on Saturday against TCU.
