Eight Named to Cayman Islands Classic All-Tournament Team

GEORGE TOWN, GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – The inaugural Women's Basketball Cayman Islands Classic, featuring four ranked teams, produced two days full of memorable games and several last-minute finishes. The eight games also delivered incredible individual performance, culminating in eight players earning all-tournament honors. 
 
Listed in alphabetical order by team, here is the all-tournament team:
 
For Kansas, the all-tournament honor went to Taiyanna Jackson, a 6-foot-6 senior center from East Chicago, Ill., who put up solid numbers despite being hampered in both games by foul troubles. She had eight points and four rebounds in just 18 minutes of action in a loss to Virginia Tech. On Saturday night, she had 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting with 12 rebounds and a blocked shot.
 
Aneesah Morrow, a 6-1 junior guard from Chicago, was a no-doubt selection for all-tournament for LSU, averaging 32.5 points and 13 rebounds in her two games in Cayman. She set what will stand as the tournament record until next year with 37 points in the game against Virginia. She also snapped off 16 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass. She had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals in the opening night win over Niagara.
 
Sophomore guard Chardonnay Hartley, a sophomore guard from Harlem, N.Y., paced Niagara in the tournament to earn selection to the squad. The point guard faced intense defensive pressure against two ranked opponents to lead her team. Against No. 7 LSU, Hartley had 18 points and added three rebounds and four assists. In the contest with No. 2 UCLA, Hartley posted nine points, four assists, and two steals.
 
Hannah Pratt, a 6-1 graduate forward from Boca Raton, Fla., represented Tulane on the all-tournament list. In the game against Virginia, Pratt led the Green Wave with 15 points, seven rebounds and also contributed three assists and two steals. She followed that game by posting 16 points against No. 6 Virginia Tech.
 
UCLA sophomore Kiki Rice, a 5-11 guard from Bethesda, Md., claimed a spot on the honor squad, staking her claim with a sensational outing in the team's opening-game victory over UConn in which she narrowly missed a triple-double, finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. In the win over Niagara, Rice managed eight points and eight assists, along with five rebounds, and three steals.
 
Paige Bueckers, a junior guard from Hopkins, Minn., carried the UConn banner on the all-tournament squad. Against No. 2 UCLA, Bueckers poured in 31 points and dished out three assists. Against Kansas, she had 22 points and four rebounds, along with two steals and one assist. 
 
Virginia was represented by sophomore Yonta Vaughn, a 5-8 guard from District Heights, Md. Against Tulane, she led the Cavaliers with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Facing LSU, she managed 13 points and seven assists.
 
Elizabeth Kitley had a memorable trip to Cayman, culminating in two wins for her Virginia Tech team and her all-tournament selection. A 6-6 graduate center from Summerfield, N.C., Kitley opened with an exclamation game, posting a double-double with 31 points and 18 rebounds in the Hokies' one-point win over Kansas. She became the first player in Hokie history to record back-to-back double-doubles with at least 30 points. She also added five blocked shots and three assists.
 
In Virginia Tech's second contest, a 76-70 win against Tulane, Kitley had 18 points on 9-for-12 shooting, along with eight rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
